Sarah was referred to us by a Women’s Refuge. Sarah had been experiencing domestic violence at the hands of her ex-partner, through which she had been hospitalised on several occasions. She was also on methadone to deal with a dependency issue and had built up debts which were increasing her anxiety.
We carried out an assessment and agreed a support plan to deal with her issues. We first contacted the council to deal with her housing application, and then applied through both St Columba’s and ScotsCare to raise funds for her to enrol on a college course. Unfortunately, in the meantime she was attacked again by her partner leading her local authority to move her to more secure housing, and from there, she was soon offered a council tenancy. As a result of this we are currently applying for a further grant to assist her with the basics for her unfurnished flat.
