Hear from our Chief Executive
– An update from our Chief Executive
In our 30th year as a Charity, Borderline saw perhaps our greatest challenge yet with Covid-19 and its particular risk to the homeless population.
Throughout it all, and in spite of continued uncertainty, I have been extremely proud of how our dedicated team has gone above and beyond to adapt to the significant challenges and continue to provide the same high level of service. Their resilience and commitment has meant that we have continued to meet the varied needs of our clients throughout this period.
In difficult circumstances, our outreach team have managed complex client casework working from home and alongside our network of frontline partners across London. We have provided one-to-one support daily through phone calls to check on client welfare, and delivered financial grants for clients to access food, clothing and essentials, whilst helping individuals to be able to access critical physical and mental health services.
As emergency Covid-19 shelter ended in July, we helped individuals transition into alternative housing and maintain their new accommodation. We have been there every step of the way to help our clients to take the first step to rebuild their lives.
Individuals who we have helped off the streets this year are now able to enjoy a first Christmas indoors in a new home. For many others, who remain sleeping rough or in insecure accommodation, the winter months can be particularly difficult as temperatures start to drop dramatically. Their risk of illness or even death is heightened especially in the current pandemic.
Thank you for helping to provide our clients with a vital lifeline. Now more than ever, your continued generosity could help make a difference to the life of an individual in need. For now, I would just like to wish you a very happy, healthy and safe festive period this year from all of us at Borderline.
